Interview with Miss Truly Young

Truly Young is an artist from the San Fernando Valley. From painting primarily traditional pin-up art, to djing parties and events in Los Angeles, to singing in the band Imposter Sindrome, Truly is a multi-talented queen. She released her first single, “GRRH” just last week.  I am so excited to share this interview with her!

What is your ideal breakfast in bed?

Waffles 

 

What sparked your interest in painting/drawing?

I’ve been drawing ever since I can remember honestly I’ve always been into drawing and painting people’s faces. Now that I think about it, maybe caricature art at theme parks were the first times I saw paintings and drawings I wanted to recreate.

 

When did you first discover pin-up art?

Growing up, my mom constantly watched the channel Turner Classic Movies, she would have it on in the background while I watched her do her makeup a lot of the time. I looked up to her and the women in those movies so much. Their hair, makeup, and costuming is what drew me to that era of art in the first place. When I got Tumblr I would always reblog posts from those movies and Lana obviously. That led me into researching artists and finding my favorites. I think I got my first coffee table book on pin-ups called ‘The Great American Pin-up’ when I was 13.

Imposter Sindrome is my band! 

 

What inspired the name?

The name just comes from feeling like you’re being taken for granted.

Bottle of water, plate of chocolate chip cookies

I got pulled over and I told the cop I was Zac Efron
